Why do I hate Nickelback? No, that's not the right question. Why does anyone not hate Nickelback? Now you're talking. They sound like an unhealthy car engine and look like an unhealthy whore's vagina. That's all there is to it really. They create some of the most monotonous 'rock' music I've ever heard and the fact that a large number of people (in America, at least) seem to enjoy it really just points towards some kind of Canadian gypsy hypnotism. I really look forward to someone defending Nickelback but I'm pretty sure that won't happen because most of their fans are either busy fucking their cousin in a barn or being fucked by their cousin in a barn. I guess I've answered my own question there. Why does anyone not hate Nickelback? Incest, apparently. Makes sense to me!

I didn't think they were still around...weren't they kind of a late-90's thing (along with Limp Bizkit and other horrid bands of the like)?

I honestly can't remember a single one of their songs...which is probably a very good thing.

What bugs me the most about them is that their songs are all alike. One DJ said "Nickelback can't write a bad song." Yeah, because they've only written one song, just with slightly different melody or pace.

A more fitting #001 I can't possibly imagine. Speaking as a Canadian gypsy hypnotist, your explanation makes perfect sense to me. Although a large number of Canadians also like them. Although this is Vancouver, and as I discussed with a colleague at lunch this city wasn't built on rock & roll, it was built on sprouts and lentils. So once again, I guess that explains a lot.

The voice post is also a great idea. However next time I'd like to hear a little more emotion, and perhaps a more extemporaneous presentation, rather than a verbatim reading.

It's so funny. With your accent, you make this post sound more "proper" and it makes it even funnier. (I'm used to being around a lot of people that can't enunciate for shit.)

Everytime I hear Nickelback, I declare, "I want my nickel back." Kind of dumb, but it's something I say to make myself feel better if I am unable to change the music.

You forgot to mention their terrible fucking lyrics. They have this one song that goes something like, blah blah blah something something, "...kiss/ I was so nervous that I nearly missed." Or in that song that scorns an abusive man, they sing, "She's just a woman." Idiots.

not sure that i feel the same as you do, not saying that i love them, it's more there music kinda blends when it's playing on the radio. It's not horrid music, but its not "wow that was a great song, i must buy it" either. Sort of like, if i didnt' hear them, i wouldn't say, hey i haven't heard nickelback in a while, if that makes sense.

I was honest-to-God thinking about this the other day. I work in an office that plays the same "best of the 80s, 90s + today" bullshit -- and I figured out the formula: 4 madonna (pre-1995), 4 nickelback, 2 vanessa carlton (the same one twice), 2 cyndi lauper, and a wide assortment of other senseless crap.

Thank you for articulating my feelings.

i'm not a big fan of nickelback, but some of their songs are catchy :( "animals" is...scarily pathetic (and slightly reminiscent of the bloodhound gang) but i find it stuck in my head more often than i'd like to admit.
